Empire State

The Empire state building is one of the worlds most recognizable landmarks. Named as one of the seven wonders of the modern world it was also one of the last skyscrapers completed in New York before the Great Depression hit the real estate market. The empire state building held its title of the worlds tallest building for more than 40 years. Due to the depression the empire state was ironically named  the ' empty state building' as it was almost impossible to fill the office space.
It was only at the end of the 1940s that the real estate market had fully recovered and in the early 1950s the Empire State Building became the most profitable building in New York City.

Standing at an intimidating 1453 ft, the empire state remains one of the most famous free standing buildings made to date. Its Art Deco features maintained a characteristic that has kept some sort of originality. It took a total of 3,400 workers mainly of which were immigrants from eastern europe to complete this historic landmark.
